June 5, 2015 4:51 AM EDT An Oklahoma school has found itself in hot water after a video surfaced online featuring several of its students performing a choreographed “dance” with dead cats to a popular jingle. The cats were the subjects of a biology class on feline dissection at the prestigious Harding Charter Preparatory High School, reports CBS News. After drawing criticism from animal-rights group People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the school said Thursday that it would end that particular class.

Mary Tyler Moore has died. She was 80 years old.  TMZ reported the actress was in "grave condition" at a hospital in Connecticut on Wednesday.  Moore's acting career spanned more than six decades. She became a household name for her role as Laura Petrie on "The Dick Van Dyke Show."  She later produced and starred in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." It was celebrated for portraying a single successful woman. Moore won six Emmy awards and two Golden Globes for her work on both television shows.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Carnival season 2024 entered its final days in New Orleans on Friday as a parade of “fabulous women and the men who support them” walked the narrow streets of the old French Quarter handing out hand-decorated bras. Family Feud host Steve Harvey is a true family man. "Family is my reason why," he once said about fatherhood. "I work to leave a legacy and hopefully [make] the world a better place for them." Steve first became a dad in 1982 when he and his then-wife, Marcia Harvey, welcomed twin girls, Brandi and Karli, 40. The couple also had a son, Broderick Harvey Jr., 31, in 1991 before their divorce in 1994.

One person died and two others were injured in a head-on collision Thursday night on a stretch of road in Malibu that has become increasingly dangerous in recent years, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The collision occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 22000 block of Pacific Coast Highway when the driver of a 2019 Mercedes Benz, traveling east, crossed the center median and collided head on with a westbound 2020 Cadillac SUV, the department said in a statement.
