Due to first eight episodes of Being a DIK growing to over 20 GB in size and Ren'Py taking its time to load larger files, the creator decided to release episodes after that, starting with season three, as a new executable. There is a special save game file at the end of episode 8 (last episode in season 2) which is intended to be imported into this game to keep all the decisions and continue the story properly. This Patreon release supports imported save games files from the original Patreon release as well as from GOG and Steam releases.
So this is a direct continuation on previous two seasons, only split into new game. First release includes only the interlude episode, which is sort of a special season 3 episode that changes the protagonist to Zoey, main character's best friend who went to pursue her dream over a year ago, and in that episode we see what happened during that period, until the point when she returns home which was also seen at the end of episode 8.
Similarly to how the first two seasons worked, each new episode is added via update for lower tier patrons or can be re-downloaded anew with the latest episode included for higher tier patrons. Season 2 introduces 2D art beside 3D renders, and season 3 introduces 2D animations as well.
This continuation includes "Riding the Waves" interlude and then continues with Season 3 episodes.
