Leaders in Learning: Transforming creative ideas into reality at the Boise State Albertsons LibraryM
Transforming ideas into reality, that's the goal of Boise State University's Albertsons Library's MakerLab!
Located on the first floor of the Albertson's Library the MakerLab is open to entire campus regardless of your major.
The space is repurposing plastics, metal and more with tools that range from 3-D printers to modeling prosthetics - finding solutions to everyday issues.
"We recently worked with the Chemistry Department to make soap," shares Yitzhak “Yitzy” Paul, Albertson Library's MakerLab Unit Head of Emerging Technology and Experiential Learning at Boise State University. "And so we are 3-D printing molds and the students are figuring out what they want the soap to look like and they are learning the science behind soap making and we are merging them together now to create this really interesting workshop."
The lab is completely free to use.
And that's not all, the space is able to take on some big projects.
They have specialty laser cutters, a small CNC router, a vinyl cutter, a pen plotter, soldering stations and more!
The Albertson Library's MakerLab is open Monday – Friday from 10 AM – 5 PM.
